Fast
When the
Too fast is one of the
easiest problems to spot.
Watch out for:
→ Coughing or gagging
→ Milk leaking from corners of the mouth
→ Gulping
→ Arching away
→ Short, frantic feeds
→ Increased spit-up
Fast 昀氀ow can lead to:
→ Re昀氀ux-like symptoms
→ Nasal congestion from milk re昀氀uxing
into the nose
→ Pulling away and not eating enough
And babies almost always breathe through
their nose (obligate nasal breathers). I once
had a parent tell me, “Every feeding feels like
a race.” It was. They had their 2‑month‑old on
a Flow 3, and the milk was regurgitating out
of his mouth while he fed.
