Feeding Made Simple - Flipbook - Page 9
Shortly after, I FaceTimed my friend. She was so eager to
hear how it went and so excited for us. I thanked her for
reminding me that nipple sizes, in relation to age, can exist as a
recommendation and not a de昀椀nitive rule. This win was a truly
sweet moment, and I felt so grateful to have had her guidance.
Parenting is so hard, and we need those “ah‑ha” moments—
those dopamine hits, that feeling of pride and accomplishment
—to keep us going. We deserve that, along with more self‑
assurance and clarity as we move through the stages of
feeding, the 昀椀ne-tuning, and pivots that come with it. That
conviction allows for more fun, too, and we should all be trying
to embrace that side of this daunting adventure.
Feeling totally overwhelmed and in over your head is a
benchmark of this journey, and feeding is very nuanced. No
two babies or families are the same. Some things won’t go as
planned, some will require course correction. The goal is to feel
prepared and empowered every step of the way, and with every
adjustment. I feel this guide exists to highlight those nuances
and give us the information we need to feel empowered
through knowledge. That can have such a positive impact on
this experience as a whole.
I hope that your feeding journey is not one of confusion and
question marks, but one of comfort and safety. One that
bonds you to your baby. A quiet moment to breathe, and an
opportunity to smell your baby’s little head (my favorite smell
in the world. I literally inhale it.)
Knowledge is power. You’ve got this!
